Tell us a little bit about your background before joining Parkshore Juanita Bay?
As the youngest of eleven children, with five brothers and five sisters ahead of me, I naturally found myself in a unique position within our family. My parents, having welcomed me into their lives later in their journey, meant that I gradually assumed the role of caregiver—a role that, in hindsight, was both a profound blessing and a formidable challenge.
Witnessing my parents age in the familiarity of their own home, I saw firsthand the natural inclination many have to remain in their own space. However, this choice often led to a reactive stance towards health issues and unforeseen events, rather than a proactive one.
My professional journey in senior living began in 2011 at Transforming Age, where I stepped into the role of Human Resources Director at our Skyline community. It was here that I discovered my true calling in senior living. The calling was so strong that even when I transitioned to Aegis Living and later to Brookdale Senior Living, serving in roles that ranged from General Manager to Executive Director II, I retained a deep-seated passion for the field. Each experience, especially within the for-profit sector, offered unique insights but also highlighted a different set of priorities and missions.
Ultimately, the pull to return to Transforming Age was irresistible. The opportunity to rejoin an organization whose values aligned so closely with my own was a chance I eagerly embraced. This journey, shaped by my personal experiences and professional endeavors, has solidified my commitment to transforming the landscape of senior living.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Spending time with family, my wife Christi and I have 4 children and 4 grandchildren, and traveling (usually some place tropical).
